Disaster Recovery

ITS takes multiple steps to ensure that faculty, students, and staff can continue to work in the event of a disaster or failure and to minimize unplanned downtime whenever possible. These include:

  • Regular and automated backups of systems.
  • Storage of non-active backup media in a location separate from the primary backup server.
  • Where possible redundant servers are located in a secondary data center for critical services.
  • Redundant services in our Cyert Hall Data Center.
    • Two Uninterruptible Power Supplies (USP) capable of supporting the data center for 10 to 15 minutes.
    • Building wide diesel powered backup generated (in partnership with Andrew Computing Services).
    • Redundant cooling systems in the data center. This includes a standalone chiller dedicated to data center cooling (in partnership with Andrew Computing Services).
    • Remote monitoring and management of critical systems.
    • Remote monitoring and management of individual system power.
